The Boston Red Sox have signed relief pitcher Bobby Jenks to a two-year deal worth $12 million.
The former White Sox closer could give Jonathan Palpebon and Josh Bard a run for their money at the back end of the bullpen.
The Red Sox told Jenks he will begin the year as the setup man but could become the closer if Palpebon struggles.
Still, it’s a little bit surprising to see the Red Sox give Jenks so much money given how much he struggled last year. (Read More…)

The Boston Red Sox came out of nowhere to sign outfielder Carl Crawford to a seven-year contract worth $142 million.
Crawford was the most coveted position player on the free agent market and generated a lot of interest.
However, some teams backed away after the Nationals gave Jayson Werth a huge contract that they knew would make Crawford’s demands soar.
The Los Angeles Angels were considered the heavy favorite to land Crawford and had made him their top priority. (Read More…)

The Boston Red Sox have acquired first baseman Adrian Gonzalez from the San Diego Padres for three top prospects.
The loss of the top prospects will hurt the farm system, especially right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly.
Kelly was considered one of the top 10 prospects in all of baseball and is the centerpiece of the trade.
Nonetheless, the Red Sox were more than happy to jump at the opportunity to acquire a star first baseman. (Read More…)
