Nomar retires with Red Sox
Nomar Garciaparra signed a one-day contract to retire with the Boston Red Sox, something he called a dream.
Garciaparra began a promising major league career with the Red Sox before injuries slowed him down.
The former shortstop said that Red Sox Nation is bigger than any other nation in professional sports, and he is lucky to have been a part of it.
He said he decided to retire now because the condition that has slowed him of late was no longer allowing him to work out the way he wanted.
Now retired, Garciaparra has been hired by ESPN to be a baseball analyst, and he should be a natural.
