Lowell motivated for 2010
Boston Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell is motivated to show people he can still play in 2010.
The Red Sox tried to trade Lowell in the offseason but were unsuccessful because of concerns over his offseason thumb surgery.
Lowell also has hip and knee concerns, which makes it highly unlikely he make it through a full season.
Just don’t tell that to the veteran Lowell, who is looking at spring training as a tryout to make the club.
He is in the final year of his contract, so the Red Sox would have to eat a significant amount of money if they released him.
